Chris Eliasmith sets ABR’s technology direction and leads the research and development behind its State Space Model (SSM) platform. He is a co-inventor of the Legendre Memory Unit, the first State Space Model, an approach now being adopted across the AI industry and one NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has described as “probably the next generation of Transformers.” He is widely recognized as a world leader in neural computation and holds the Canada Research Chair in Theoretical Neuroscience. He directs the Centre for Theoretical Neuroscience at the University of Waterloo, where his team built Spaun, the world’s largest functional model of the human brain. Under his technical leadership, ABR is developing groundbreaking embedded solutions that set new performance and efficiency records, giving ABR a durable advantage in delivering AI on the most constrained edge devices.
